Though it was tough material to cover, O'Malley did an unflinching hard look at the traumatic saga that was the crime of Andrea Yates. Killing her four children in the depths of postpartum pyschosis, the reader still is alienated from her by the horrificness of her crime, but comes away with a new understanding of her disease. For a larger look into the justice system and its dealings with the mentally ill, "Are you there alone?" is to be commended.
