What would cause an ancient civilization to leave its homeland? Learn what causes this peaceful, caring ancient civilization to abandon their ancestral lands in this Book 2- Ancient Civilization: The Journey of Surrender the second part of the trilogy from the adaption of The Camp of Gods Tears. The Journey of The People begins just as Red Fox returns home from his assignment touring a major portion of the culture. This civilization is thousands of years old with the last thousand years having thrived in peace. When the story takes place, peace is all they knew. As a result The People enjoyed a peaceful, rich and elegant way of life, never experiencing violence or want, at least until now. Suddenly this peaceful and caring civilization becomes alerted to the possibility that their civilization is at risk. Their dreamers and seers share their concerns. Doom poised to attack by unknown and unimaginable threats took years for The People to come to grips with it. They found it difficult to think in terms that their beautiful lives and civilization could possibly end. If so, what to do about it? To stay or to go? To stay and fight? Or to go and abandon their ancestral lands, cultivated, cultured, and thrived upon for longer than memory could afford? Each choice appears unacceptable. Red Fox had built a model of the Great Serpent to show as he made presentation after presentation invoking memories of the history of The People. His message was "remember to remember." The idea was to bring to consciousness as to whom The People are, and why they live the way they live, in the effort to bring thoughts and actions into focus and back in alignment with Great Spirit and the Oneness principle they lived by.
