Seller's Description:
Fair. 12mo. 201, [13] p. Contemporary sheep. Boards detached, wear to edges. Browning spots, dampstain throughout affecting text. List of subscriber in rear present. Evans 31567 An Apology for the Bible is Bishop Watson's answer to Thomas Paine's book The Age of Reason, Part II, which attempted to catalogue and date the writings of the books of the Bible and say how they could not have been written by the authors of the same name, as well as, debunking the writings of the books as mere fables and allegorical tales. Watson's defense of the Bible, has not lost its fervor in the echoes of time, as the same defenses for the Bible are still being used in these, our modern times. In a series of eight letters, Watson answers Paine's criticisms virtually point by point.
