Demar's book America's Christian History is a well-rounded overview of the key ideas, people and events that formed the American idea. It provides ample evidence of the Christian foundation of this nation. Plenty of detail, but still an interesting read.

Doesn't win argument
The response to this type of book generally is that a nation of Christians is not necessarily a Christian nation. Demar does not really say much more than that there were a lot of important Christians in the early days of the nation. he did not reference the letters and papers of the founding fathers except to cherry pick a few.. He does not show that it was a Christian nation rather than a nation of Christians in a convincing manner. The last two chapters have nothing to do with the subject and I was unclear why they were in the book at all
the late Forrest Church did a much better job in his book on the subject and has me sold on the need the founding fathers saw for separating church and state. Demar did nothing to change my mind (or to impress me as an author)
