W.H. Bartlett. Very Good. 8 1/2"x 11" Two volumes 140pgs, 106pgs. Brown 1/2 leather, grain cloth boards. Volume I contains 65 hand colored-plates including a frontis portrait of the artist, plus a map with his route outlined in red, and an engraved title. Volume II contains 52 hand-colored plates plus an engraved title. The extremities of the leather bindings are scuffed, the endpapers appear to be replaced. Internally there are no markings, there is foxing to the pages, mostly at the extremities and the edges of a few of the plates, but the exquisite hand-colored plates are well preserved. The illustrator W.H. Bartlett came to America to draw the buildings, towns and scenery of the northeastern states, and became one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation.
