There is a vicarious ride on the world-renowned Durango and Silverton line, the last steam powered narrow gauge train in America. The narrow gauges sets out in beautiful Durango and goes through the spectacular countryside of mountains and gorges before ending in Silverton, a tiny mining town high in the San Juan Mountains.
