This book is really good. I've read Comte and his ideas on altruism, but Comte is incomplete on the subject, though he has some good incites about altruism. Instead, he moves on to promote his personal program for Sociology and unfortunately does not finish pursuing altruism. In fact, no one in the history of philosophy has a complete moral system about altruism. The first twenty pages of this book really do not get off the ground any more than anyone else has written, but once past that point, Palmer really has good incites, complete ideas, about the subject. Highly recommended reading, and not dated, though, the lectures took place in the 1910s. This is a timeless book, and well thought out on the subject.
