Unlike most books about dogs, however, not every account here ends happily. I hope that readers can experience the varied emotions with me along this journey. I also hope you can forgive my sometimes harsh decisions regarding my dogs when, in times of crisis, my farm girl mentality won the battle with my less practical but more humane side. One of my life goals is to make amends to dogs wherever and whenever I can. They have given me much more than I have given them.
