But while past volumes have been heavy on acoustic material, remixes seem to be the focus this time around. Sheryl Crow, Zero 7, and Luce all turn in tweaked tracks; best is Dirty Vegas' reversion of its car commercial jingle "Days Go By" -- the atmospheric trip-hop of the original has given way to an electro-acoustic feel that recalls the Doves. Elsewhere, Norah Jones delivers a typically tasteful, effortless, live version of her hit "Don't Know Why," while Jimmy Eat World prove to be old softies with a version of "Middle" that replaces the original's peppy post-new wave groove with a medley of warm acoustic guitars. A quiet, live "Pinch Me" shows off the Barenaked Ladies' wit, as well as their instrumental chops -- the touches of accordion are particularly nice.
