Very Good-in Very Good-dust jacket. 0939481006. B & W and Color; 9.30 X 6.30 X 0.50 inches; 157 pages; Hard cover is blue cloth with gold lettering on spine. Light bumping, rubbing, scuffing. A brown stain, ca. 1" long, on end front end paper, with matching spot inside front cover and going through page to obverse of end paper. Owner's name neatly written on bottom of this page. DJ has sticker residue on upper front corner, some rubbing, scuffing, bumping, 1" closed tear at top of rear, near spine, small closed tear at bottom of front, near crease, and general nicking/rubbing along edges; in a mylar cover. For all horse, and especially dressage, lovers, this is a wonderful book. It begins with his purchase at the Westphalian auction in 1975, and follows his training, year by year, from 4 year old gelding, to individual and team gold winner at the 1984 summer Olympics in Los Angeles [Looking for an extra treat? --watch the video, of Klimke's victory lap on Ahlerich, on line]. Pages are clean and tight, book is illustrated with many b/w and color photographs. Ahlerich [1971-1992] went on to win a 2d team Olympic gold, with Dr. Klimke, in 1988 at Seoul. The legendary Reiner Klimke ( 1936 – 1999) was a renowned German equestrian, who won 6 gold and 2 bronze medals in dressage at the Summer Olympics — a record for equestrian events. He competed in six Olympics from 1960 to 1988, excluding the noycotted 1980 Games.
