Queens of the Indoor Gardening Kindom, now out of print but still fairly easily available, was the first of 3 books by Melvin Robey on the subject of African Violets. The three books: African Violets: Queens of the Indoor Gardening Kindom African Violets: Gifts from Nature African Violets: Back to Basics The 2nd book is also out of print and when available currently goes for many times it's face value and is the most popular of the 3. The 3rd in the series is still in print and readily available. Melvin Robey with a background as a plant scientist brings to us in queens of the indoor gardening kindom a book aimed at the hobbiest but whose background shines through to bring good solid information on all aspects of plant care and propogation. While a little dated 90% of the information in the book is still valid today, and the other 10% provides some real incite into the history of the African Violet as a favourite house plant. A must have book for any serious African Violet Grower. Melvin currently lives in Thailand, and is busy reworking the three books with the intent of republishing Gifts from Nature in three volumes. No release date is available yet but expected sometime in 2008
