David Herbert Donald was the winner of two Pulitzer Prizes for his biographies of Charles Sumner and Thomas Wolfe and was a celebrated biographer of Abraham Lincoln A review of the book is laid in. Ruth Randall's signature is on the first free endpaper. She was the biographer of Elmer Ellsworth and her husband, J, G. Randall, supervised David Herbert Donald's dissertation at the University of Illinois. Ruth Randall and Aida Donald became close friends. The dust jacket is protected with a mylar cover.
