The preparation of activated carbon from coconut shell with ZnCl2 activation and its ability to remove MB from aqueous solutions was reported in this study. It seeks at establishing the best conditions in the production of Activated Carbon using coconut shells and also to investigate the physical characteristics and surface chemistry of the prepared activated carbon. From the experimental kinetic data of Methylene Blue (MB) calculated, three kinetic models: pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order and intraparticle diffusion models were used to validate the adsorption of MB. Also, from the thermodynamic studies, some calculated thermodynamic parameters, namely G, H, and S were also used to show the adsorption of methylene blue.
