Seller's Description:
Near Fine. Octavo. Signed and Inscribed By the Author 191pp. Black stiff wraps. Author inscription in black sharpie on the front endpaper. 16 black and white illustrations throughout. Slight edgewear, otherwise fine. Adolphe Sax gave his name and inventive skill to a vast range of projects, some so bizarre as to make him appear the very soul of the proverbial mad genius. There is hardly a musical instrument of any kind which did not receive his attention. Only two of his conceptions have endured: the saxhorn around which the brass band is built and that most widely known and prolifically made of all wind instruments, the saxophone.
