Eye-opening Experience
Stillwagon focuses on diseases and their causes in Africa. There's also chapters that explore AIDS in Latin and South America and Europe as well. She identifies the problems that lead to the spread of AIDS within each part of the world, which really opened up my eyes as to all the different approaches that are required to stop the spread of AIDS in all different parts of the world.
She also explains how biases about AIDS arose and explains what is actually true. She provides her own solutions to the problem of AIDS, and all the information she presents enable you to do the same.
I thought it was a very interesting book that gave me a lot of insight into the problem of AIDS around the world, especially in Africa. It seems as though Stillwagon kind of pushes her point of view onto you as she debunks all other myths and biases about AIDS, but she makes an interesting case. And Stillwagon also tends to repeat her points a lot, which makes it a little repetitive, but it was still an educational experience for me as a college student.
