Seller's Description:
Near Fine in Good jacket. 1st printing. Cloth. 134pp. Illustrated in color & b/w. Notes. Index. A short, but lovely gift inscription is at the top of the ffep. Laid in is a TLS (typed letter signed) from Public Archives Canada to a descendant of Nevitt. It is from the photography department seeking information about Nevitt's photographic activity. He was a member of the Toronto Camera Club in the 1890s. Pencil notes are on the letter. Nevitt was surgeon at Ft. MacLeod after the NWMP arrival there in 1874. Also laid in affixed to a piece of paper is an 1890 or 1891 one-paragraph unattributed news clipping, but date-lined New York. It relates that with the death of Sitting Bull, troubles have not ceased and "the whole tribe is now indulging in the wildest orgies of the ghost dance" after his ghost was seen beckoning them to follow in the direction of the "Bad Lands." Near fine in good dj with some edge tears / creases. A rather common book with highly collectible added material.
