First edition, stated, of this excellent history of the peak years (1822-1834) of the American fur trade. The author relates the history of The Rocky Mountain Fur Company, its rival the Hudsons Bay Company, as well as accounts of Jim Bridger, hugh Glasss, Joe Meek, Jedediah Smith, Black Harris, Jowe Walker, Tom Fitzpatrick, Davey Jackson, Captain Bonneville, Rev.
