I believe both Students and Manufacturers will find it a useful one; no doubt some who consult it may think that some branches of the subject, which have been omitted, ought to have been introduced other branches have necessarily come under my consideration in preparing the work for the press; but I thought it desirable not to ex tend the book to an undue length, and to avoid what is technically termed book-making.
