I love Norah Lofts and I really enjoyed this book. She combines historical fact so well with engaging fiction to bring her characters to life. I felt like I gained a more personal understanding of Napoleon, Josephine, and Hortense de Beauharnais as they faced real-life struggles and heartbreak. I enjoyed every minute of this book and I enjoyed reading more about the true life characters on-line when I finished. I recommend it for history buffs and Norah Lofts lovers!
