And even when you have passed from the scene of your labors, and entered into the joy of the Lord, you will not be unmindful of this city and of this people with whom your Episcopal life has been inseparably identified. In his wonderful funeral oration over St. Basil, the great St. Gregory of Nanzianzen, besought that departed Bishop to pray for his stricken flock. So you when that time shall come, will lift up your hands before God in his eternal and glorious kingdom for those who were committed to your pastoral care on earth. And now, Venerable Brother in Christ, during these festive scenes you are no doubt in a retrospective and prospective mood.
