A person under twenty-one is called an InfAnT because he 'cannot speak' words of legal consent and obligation. in fa nd-us, -a, -um in fa ndo-adj. unutterable, too dreadful to tell, shocking, abominable. (anxious Enquiry), trouble--Care, attention, pains. Curb and Care appear to be one of the instances where the Old English of direct descent and the English derived from the Latin meet together in meaning, and almost in form: Careful and Careless are genuine English, just as Curious and Incurable are good Latin-English. Perhaps however care is rather akin to cark than to quaer-and euro. See 33.
