None. Very Good. A complete collection of this biographical dictionary from Hugh James Rose. Hugh James Rose (9 June 1795 22 December 1838) was an English churchman and theologian who served as the second Principal of King's College London. In 18331834 he was professor of divinity at the University of Durham, a post which ill-health forced him to resign. In 1836 he became editor of the Encyclopædia Metropolitana, and he projected the New General Biographical Dictionary, a scheme carried through by his brother Henry John Rose (18001873). Bookplate of WIlliam Dashwood Fane, barrister, to front pastedowns. Complete in twelve volumes: Volume I: A-ANS Volume II: ANS-BAH Volume III: BAH-BEE Volume IV: BEE-BRA Volume V: BRA-CAP Volume VI: CAP-CZE Volume VII: DAC-GEO Volume VIII: GEO-JEN Volume IX: JEP-MAR Volume X: MAR-PAV Volume XI: PAY-SEN Volume XII: SEP-ZWI Printed in two columns. In half-calf bindings. Externally, sound, though with some rubbing and some slight wear to the extremities. One joint is starting, and one hinge is strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just some spotting to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
