The perfect insect appears in July and August. The caterpillar is dull white, with a pale red line along the back. The date of the appearance of the caterpillar is in April and May. It feeds on the stem of the reed (Arundo phragmites). The chrysalis is found in the stem of the reed. NONAGRIA GEM1NIPUNCTA. TWIN-SPOT WAINSCOT. Plate XLV. Figure 5. Localities for this species are Weston-super-Mare, the Hammersmith Marshes, and the Cambridgeshire Fens. The situations where it is found are fens and marshes. The perfect insect appears in August. The caterpillar is dull white dotted with brownish, the head shining brownish red, the raised spots on the side black. The date of the appearance of the caterpillar is in May.
