Reluctant Romantics
This Christian historical romance about an American nurse and pilot is set in WW2 England. It's well-researched and the military action is authentic. Both Ruth and Jack are flawed, with real issues that have repurcussions on other people's lives as well. The author does a good job not to solve their problems too quickly, or to gloss over their pain. It had me smiling at Jack's charming wit or the quirky behaviour of minor characters like their drill sergeant. Although she weaves in elements of the Biblical story of Ruth, who found safety and protection in a man, the author makes God the Hero, Sustainer and Provider.
