Apparently it's not, if compilations like A Man & His Music are any indication. Part of the problem with A Man & His Music isn't that it contains bad songs -- it has a couple of weak moments, but all the beloved tunes are here -- it's that it contains selections from his solo A&M recordings. Bacharach may have been a great songwriter, but he wasn't much a performer and he simply doesn't do these songs as well as Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick, Sandie Shaw, Gene Pitney and the Walker Brothers did.
