The Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen, early February. Luke Adams, a recently widowed, reluctant supply teacher is on his usual run with Noah, his dog, when he finds a body. It's his closest friend, Richard. Here begins a chain of events that will change Luke's life for ever. You see, Luke cannot accept his friend has killed himself - Richard wasn't the type, he really wasn't! But then who truly knows anyone, and nearly everyone else seems ready to accept that it was another tragic suicide in Sunnyhurst Woods. Maybe Luke's refusal to accept his mate has bailed out is simply a convenient distraction that stops Luke facing up to his own meaningless existence. And then, just when he is starting to accept this, he meets a sick old lady at the wake who sends him on a mission to Italy to find Richard's estranged sister, Annabel. It isn't easy, but Luke eventually finds Annabel ....and he finds far, far more. A Light Deficiency is a book about loss and love, and faith and doubt and it's set mainly in Darwen and Rome.. I've tried to write the kind of novel you can enjoy with a glass of wine, and the type of book I would enjoy myself, a mystery with nice settings, interesting characters, and cooking and drinking and music and romance.. The opening chapter (and a bit) is entirely free on Amazon. Happy Reading, Andrew Lewis x
