Not illustrated. 1885 Excerpt: ...put to death for the fathers; every man (C'K) shall be put to death for his oum sin. 66. VII--VERBS WITH N AS THIRD LETTER (OR N"1?). 1. The verbs ending in N are but limited in number, and deviate comparatively little from the ordinary conjugation. Wherever the N would regularly have sh'va quiescens, it rests in the preceding vowel. Now, if this vowel is long, no other change is required, as in the infinitive and participle of Kal XWO; S"SXfe, NWO (from KXO to /-); the fut. and participle of Niphal KXfiK, the past and future of Piel and Hithpael NSB, NX&JT.; the past and future of Hiphil KXOn, But if the preceding vowel is pathach, it is in some forms prolonged into kamets, as in the past of Kal NifB (for tSZ), nKXO (for Tli-&), HNSO (for flNtt?) If the N is provided with a vowel, no deviation from the regular verb takes place, as nK?&, Wfltjpj -Klf&, 'WW, and sonNXpJ, VM, etc.T'T 3. The afformatives beginning with T, in the first and second person of the past, lose, of course, both sh'va and dagesh lene, as the preceding K is quiescent--'HNSD, TiVXl2, HXXM, DnNSD, etc. 4. Som...
