Their relationship is an uneasy one. George is haunted by dreams of a man with a bandage over his eyes and by the vision of a gallows. The duke has powerful enemies and matters come to a head in London when George is framed as a pickpocket and seems likely to meet an unhappy end on Tyburn "tree."
