Seller's Description:
Very Good- in Good jacket. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. 289 pages, illustrated in b&w. "The authors trace the evolution through 2500 years of Western civilization. Not surprisingly, solar energy has been used repeatedly-usually when such "conventional" fuels as wood and coal were in short supply. A complete technical history on solar energy, including the aspect that "energy is used by a society is closely tied to its economic, cultural and political life, and Butti and Perlin have not ignored this human element." VERY GOOD-HARDCOVER, GOOD DUST JACKET. Dust jacket protected with a clear plastic acid-free jacket. Some wear to the lower front corner of book cover and upper spine edge. Else a nice clean tight copy.
A comprehensive, well researched presentation of the development and evolution of passive and active solar energy use until 1980. It gave me a good feel for the roots of my solar hot water systems business. My library would not be complete without it.
