After a series of adventurous jobs around the world, Sam Sheridan found himself in Australia, cash-rich and with time on his hands to spend it. It occurred to him that he could finally explore a long-held obsession: fighting. Within a year, he was in Bangkok training with Thailand's greatest kickboxing champion and stepping through the ropes for his first professional bout. But one fight wasn't enough, and Sheridan set out to test himself on an epic journey into how and why we fight, facing Olympic boxers, Brazilian jiu-jitsu stars, and Ultimate Fighting champions. A Fighter's Heart is a dizzying first-hand account of what it is like to reach the peak of finely disciplined personal aggression.

Wonderful journey into the world of fighting. Very descriptive writing that really puts you in the cage/ring with Sam. The book is well written and some nonfighting parts are great travel stories. The book deals with Sam's long and arduous life of learning to be a fighter, both mental and physical aspects are covered. I'd recommend this book for anybody that has every thought that they had "what it takes" to step into a ring or cage or anybody that wants to learn about the deeper motivation/aspects of fighting. GREAT read and well worth the money.

Stellar performance Mr. Sheridan!!!
i highly recommend this book to anyone with even a little interest in martial arts or a young adult who doesn't know what to do with their life. if i read this 10 years ago i would have probably done the same. to think i was debating joing the merchant marines myself. the book gave many true insights & Sam was really good at making you feel as if you were traveling around with him. i feel i have grown as a fighter from just reading this book & it has also given me new areas to research. thanks again Sam
