Examples: GRABEN Downthrown block between two normal faults. NEPHELOMETER Instrument used to compare the turbidity of solutions by passing a beam of light through a transparent tube and measuring the ratio of the intensity of the scattered light to that of the incident light. SUPERNATANT Liquid standing above a sediment or precipitate. TREMIE Pipe or tube through which concrete is deposited under water, having at its upper end a hopper for filling and a bail for moving the assemblage.
