The first edition, first impression of original manuscript edition of this work in the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. A beautiful trade edition containing a facsimile of the original manuscript of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol with its detailed emendations, deletions and insertions in Dickens' handwriting, owned by the Morgan Library & Museum in Manhattan. Alongside the facsimile is a typeset version of the story. Included is a fascinating introduction by the Morgan's chief literary curator Declan Kiely on the history of the story, and a new foreword by Colm Tóibà n. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is in lovely bright condition. Fine.
