A research protocol was applied to search for scientific articles that deal with 3D printing techniques related to dental prostheses and also about the limitations of 3D printing in the dental field with the objective of synthesizing in one place information that enables an advance in this area. The present work will be based on the Methodi Ordinatio research methodology, which uses pre-established criteria to create a process of qualification of the articles obtained in order to guarantee a qualified systematized bibliographic review base. In terms of results the main means identified for the production of dental prostheses using 3D printing were Stereolithography (SLA), Digital Light Processing (DLP) and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), and the main limitations are the cost/access to technology, the development of biocompatible materials, the aesthetic appearance, long-term color instability, and the need for initial consultation without reliable virtual aesthetic evaluation.
