We humans are quite capable of destroying our planet all by ourselves, thank you very much. We have already made great progress in this direction by critically damaging our environment in several important ways. But we can survive most of these environmental catastrophes: they are unfolding slowly, developing slowly, so we will have time to adapt to them. If the oceans rise by 1000 feet, we can move to Colorado or Nepal. If the planet's average temperature rises 10 degrees, we will have time to buy a home in northern Canada. But we will not be able to adapt to the warfare of the future. There is no place to hide from weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Biological weapons are diabolical man-made plagues that will sweep across the planet, killing most of humanity. Chemical weapons are bug spray designed to kill people. And we all know what nuclear weapons can do; they will turn Earth into a dead, radioactive rock. But don't blame the weapons. There is nothing wrong with them. They are just the way they are supposed to be, the way they were designed them to be. They were intended to be deadly and they are. The fault lies with us. We humans are a warlike species. Our warlike nature has allowed us to conquer all the other species on this planet. But now we have WMD, and our warlike nature has become a liability. Given enough time, wars between nations, and wars between nations and terrorist groups, will inevitably destroy all life on Earth. So what to do? The solution lies within the allegory. No, the allegory will not be explained. It will be much more powerful if you figure it out yourself. Have a good time.
