A Classic Tale From Greek Mythology
Filmed in 1963, Jason and the Argonauts is a classic movie portraying one of the great stories of Greek mythology. Wanting his rightful place as ruler of one of the Greek city-states, Jason and his Argonauts embark on a voyage filled with danger and adventure. Their quest is a Golden Fleece at the end of the world in Colchis. The Argonauts battle the bronze giant Talos, capture the Harpies who torment Phineas, successfully navigate through the Clashing Rocks, and defeat the Hydra which protects the Golden Fleece. The final battle scene between the Argonauts and the skeletons (offspring of the teeth of the Hydra) is one of the great movie scenes of film history. While the special effects may not be up to the standard modern audiences expect, this tale of heroism and courage is very much worth watching. Moreover, the stirring soundtrack caps off one of the classic films from motion picture history. Highly recommended.
