Resentful of being passed over, Mugs does everything he can to sabotage the rival jockey, but in the end he relents and allows the other boy to ride the horse to victory. Beautifully directed by Joseph H. Lewis (especially in the racing scenes), That Gang of Mine is a superior "East Side Kids" romp, marred only by the unecessary racist badinage between black actors Clarence Muse and Sunshine Sammy Morrison.
