Many people know about the Bill of Rights of the US Constitution, which include the freedom of speech, religion, and so forth. These are a great foundation, but they don't tell the whole story of human rights. Each of us has the right to dignity, freedom, and happiness, the freedom to be employed, make a living, get married and have children (or choose not to), to travel and to not be harassed or abused. We even have the right to play and enjoy ourselves. After the devastation of two World Wars, a documented called Universal Declaration of Human Rights was drafted which defines 30 rights common to all people. In 1948, the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations, under the chairmanship of Eleanor Roosevelt, the widow of the late President Franklin Roosevelt, wrote this document, and it was adopted by the United Nations on December 10, 1948. This book is intended to make those rights understandable to children and people of all ages. Each of the 30 rights is described by a drawing, which may be colored using markers, pencils, crayons or whatever you desire. If you use pens, be sure to put a piece of paper between the page you are coloring and the next page to prevent bleed-through. You'll find a bar code and URL (or web site address) along with each right. You can type that URL into your browser or scan the bar code with your smartphone to see a video explaining each right in further detail.
