The study of sexual physiology--what happens, and why, and how to make it happen better--has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic. Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country" (Burkhard Bilger of The New Yorker ), devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. Can a person think herself to orgasm? The picture on the cover should give a hint about her sense of humor and the pictures inside are witty and on target. I read anything she writes.

Humorous mix of sex and science
Next to A. J. Jacobs, Mary Roach must be one of the most obsessed authors writing today. Fortunately both obsess over interesting topics and write with a wonderful sense of humor. This is an adult book and some may be offended by the content. However, if you are a Mary Roach fan you know that her books are meant to entertain and enlighten. I picked up "Bonk" because I enjoyed "Stiff" a great deal. I had to find out -- if Mary Roach could make the study of cadavers a pleasant reading topic, imagine what she can do with the study of sex. She didn?t let me down.
