Each one could stand on it's own,but I urge you to buy the entire series so you will know what happens to all your favorite characters. War, separation and love within the many families stir the reader to soon have favorites. The English lifestyle of the 30's,40's,and the 50's will hold you spell bound and entralled by the strength of human spirit when put to life's tests. I am currently beginning the eighth and final book and I will be sorry they will come to an end but I have already ordered some of her others to soften the end of this lovely series.
