When Will Cook wrote about tough women he got in to trouble with his editors, as they didn't want those kind of stories. But he persisted and managed to convince them to let him make his women strong. Sabrina Kane is a strong woman. She had to be to survive the times. This is a western only in the fact it takes place on the "western" frontier which happens to be Illinois, still east of the Mississippi. But don't let that keep you from buying this book, if you think because it is Will Cook it is a western. Will Cook wrote many different types and styles of material, and this story is probably the kind he like to write best. A story with powerful, dynamic characters, facing real life and death situations which had to be faced and conquered, just as the land had to be conquered. Sabrina Kane left home a bride and reached the frontier a widow. There she meets Ben Travis, a man just as strong as she, who knew what he wanted out of life--and he wanted Sabrina Kane.
