Goldenrod end papers. 222 pages, with Selected Discography and General Bibliography at end. With b/w photographic images. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Charlie Rich, one of the musicians featured in the book, on the front FEP: "Dear Bill, Thanks so much for your encouragement and support over the years. Your friend, Charlie Rich". Bottom corner of page 69/70 is creased, with 3 lines of text underlined in blue pen on page 70. No other marks. Illustrated dust-jacket (with "$6.95" price intact), has wrap around photographic images of Son House, Skip James, and Mississippi John Hurt. Dust-jacket is edge worn, with small stains near top of front panel. The first edition, first printing of Guralnick's first book. This copy signed and inscribed by Charlie Rich.
