Good+ in Good+ dust jacket. Hardcover copy with black cloth covers and gold lettering on spine. The page edges are a bit soiled with a 1 1/2" by 1/8" light brown stain on the fore edge, but the contents are tight and clean. The covers are a bit bumped along the edges. The black dust jacket is illustrated on the front panel. The dust jacket is slightly worn aand scuffed but still quite nice. There is a six inch long waterstain on the verso of the dust jacket but it is not visible on the outside. Despite the stated flaws this is still a nice copy of a hard to find hardcover copy that is not an ex-library copy.; 8vo 8"-9" tall; 335 pages; Asturias (1899-1974) was a Guatemalan author who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1964. "Men of Maize" was originally published in 1949 and was considered to be the first novel written in the genre Magical Realism. The translator, Gerald Martin is a literary critic who has focused on Latin American literature. He is known for his translations of Asturias' and Gabriel García Márquez's novels.
