The Museum was the first municipality to own an art collection, in 19661, with the purchase of a private collection that predated the Renaissance. Its main attraction was-and still is-the 15 paintings and numerous drawings by Hans Holbein the Younger. Today it is also renowned for its collection of 19th and 20 the century paintings.
