It is with sadness that I report Madame Wong's passing at the age of 103 (give or take a year or two because no one really knew) yesterday, May 20, 2008.
My friends, get this book because there will never be another like it. Madame Wong, who taught Chinese cooking for decades and made hundreds of friends over the years, lived her final years peacefully. Her humor, evident in a favorite snack she recommended to me ages ago, "try a cold fish sandwich with a touch of mayo, DELICIOUS!".
Of course the simplicity of many of these recipes is obvious from reading them. Do acquire many of the "Chinese/Japanese" tools to make the preparation more fun and don't be afraid to try something out of the ordinary.
