This book completes Will Cook's Texas Trilogy. And once again this book has taken previous novels and put them together in chronological order to make the story. The second two thirds of this book titled, Part Two 1905 was originally published by Bantam books under the title Tough Texan. The beginning of the book, about 100 pages comes from else where. In this book President Theodore Roosevelt has sent Colonel Jim Gary and Texas Ranger Guthrie McCabe to stop the Mexican border raids in the US and to capture El Jefe, the specter-like bandito of the region. Once more Gary and McCabe have differences on how to do that, but they need to stay united if they expect to survive.
