I have not had a chance to read much in it yet, but what I have read is very intriguing. The author has a great wealth of information to enjoy.

Detailed Account of the Flag Raising
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the stories of the six men that raised the flag on Mt Suribachi on Iwo Jima and many other men that were there and were the true hero's of the battle to take the island. This book depicts the horror of battle and the determination of the defenders and the US Marines .

a great war novel
i don't ussualy read books like this but a friend recomended it and i went out and got it. i read the lengthy novel in two weeks. even though clint eastwood did a great job on both iwo jima movies it would have taken a meticulous and long movie to do this book any justice. i would recomend it to anybody.
