I love this book after every time I read it. Christopher Moore knows how to spin a fantastic yarn, Catch is an amazing character while Pine Cove is one of the most unique settings ever created. I love it when books can be tied to one another too. Pine Cove is the setting for Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove and the Stupidest Angel while Catch appears in Lamb. I can't recommend this creation enough. Enjoy.

Unfunny and Unpleasant
This book was awful! I thought it was supposed to at least have a humorous edge to it, but instead it was unfunny, the characters were immensely unlikeable, and the ending was quite unsatisfactory. I regret wasting my time on it. It seems most of the other reviewers have read other books by this author, but I have not, and now have no wish to. Honestly, I'm not one of those people who demands that their protagonist be a paragon of perfection, but I'd at least like ONE of the characters I'm reading about to be marginally (or, preferrably, mostly) likeable! I get that this work is pretty much about obliquely mocking and criticizing every faith and belief structure that gets mentioned, but please! If I wanted to read a work dealing with the supernatural, deeply flawed protagonists, and one where every character gets drunk all the time, I'd pull out some Poppy Z. Brite and have a much better read. It would probably be a good deal funnier, too!
