I enjoyed Monroe's first two books but I found the Ultimate Journey to be silly, ridiculous, and disappointing. If I encountered a UFO from which emerged some figure who looked like W.C. Fields who said he collected humor I wouldn't tell anyone. For instance, I suppose humor itself might be exportable to other cultures but for sure you couldn't export the source of any particular humor anywhere since it is only relevant to the culture which produces it. And those people from the past who could manifest corn from dirt is just ridiculous. What good does that information do me or us? None.I can't imagine anyone saying this is his best book.

Astounding story!
This is the best of the three Robert A. Monroe books on his lifelong work in the study of states of consciousness while both in, and out of, the body. He began experiencing strange dream-like states in the 1950's that he quickly realized were actually out-of-body experiences. After a brief concern that he was possibly psychologically ill, and checking that out with many psychological tests and doctor visits, he came to accept instead that he was having a genuine experience and began to explore and learn from these events. He founded The Monroe Institute in Virginia and dedicated his life to exploration of consciousness and to teaching others to reach for the far recesses in their own psyches and minds. "Ultimate Journey" confirms his earlier two books' theories of visitation to other planes of consciousness and increases the reader's interest and belief in life after death.
