In addition to this subject-matten chapters have been prepared on the testing of fuels, refrigerating. And hydraulic machinery, as well as on the proper methods and the machinery to be used in making tests of the strength of the materials commonly used in the construction of buildings. As a book for students in laboratory courses it is intended particularly for use in large classes in which at the beginning of the laboratory periods it is necessary to begin at the same time a number of different experiments and tests. On this account care has been taken to state as clearly as possible the descriptions of the apparatus to be used and the precautions to be observed to secure accuracy in the results.
