There haven't been many novels written about the Salem Witch Trials of the late 1600s, and Rinaldi's A Break With Charity is one of the very good ones. It is extremely historically accurate, suspenseful, well-written, and gripping. The era is finely reproduced and Rinaldi brings out how the Puritanical and, by this time, extremely legalistic way of life helped to bring about the tragic deaths of so many accused witches.
